Product Design Leadership and Strategy

Product Design Leadership
and Strategy

South African born 🇿🇦 living in London 🇬🇧 working with global businesses 🌐 to help shape and translate complex product strategies into human experiences that actually make sense.
My magic happy place is somewhere on the Venn diagram of making others better, building design teams into strategic powerhouses, mentoring talent to build with purpose, sharpening discovery habits, and proving that world-class design craft is the shortest path to business impact.

Currently…

I'm Head of Product Design at IVC Evidensia, leading a digital transformation for one of the world’s largest animal healthcare providers. In under three years, I’ve scaled our design practice from 4 to 17 full time roles, partnering with executive leadership to prioritize technology as value creation and a key part of our healthcare differentiation.

We deliver smarter solutions for 40,000+ clinicians and millions of pets across the UK, Canada, and Europe. From AI-assisted clinical tooling to pet health plans that further preventative care, and taking global insurance and payment operations from clunky & manual to seamlessly automated.

Selected case studies

In early 2020…

I joined Beacon in the Founding Design Leadership role, where I navigated the company’s hypergrowth from Seed through to Series B and beyond. I built and led a multi-disciplinary team of 12 full time roles across User Research, Product and Brand design, while elevating company-wide talent standards through revamped hiring & feedback frameworks and culture initiatives.

During global supply chain disruptions, I directed design efforts to keep our customers and the business afloat through innovative strategic design.

  • Built out bespoke operations tooling with machine learning models to manage container allocation for our hubs in the UK, Europe and Asia.

  • Led the research and launch of a trade finance product in six months, reducing KYC processes to hours instead of days and financing $12M in purchase orders within its first 90 days.

  • Spearheaded a Design Sprint and beta products that transitioned Beacon into a real-time Tracking & Analytics platform, now the company’s core offering.

'16 to '19

Head of User Experience at Altus Group, where I moved from a Senior IC into leadership, tasked with bringing design thinking to a multi-billion dollar global services firm. Leading teams across London, Toronto, and Hyderabad, I focused on simplifying complex portfolio analysis for the world’s biggest real estate investors.

I focused efforts on moving the needle for both the business and its customer, working on the company's first-ever SaaS product; a dealroom and commercial acquisitions management tool that replaced manual data transfers with smart scenario modelling.

My team and I took on the challenge of moving a suite of legacy valuation products to the cloud. Despite the industry’s hesitance toward cloud technology, we successfully launched ARGUS Intelligence, which is now the company’s flagship service.

A long time ago…

I progressed through several levels of IC roles to become Mobile Games Creative Lead at Derivco (part of Micrograming). Operating in a player-coach role, I led a small but passionate team of UI engineers, Game Designers and 3D artists to deliver engaging mobile game experiences across iOS and Android.

During my tenure, my team and I were at the forefront of creating innovative game pipelines and design systems for LibGDX, Unity, and Unreal Engine. This enabled us to deliver several AA titles per quarter, and partnerships with Universal Studios on AAA titles such as Jurassic Park and The Dark Knight, which both won ICE Gaming Innovation awards in 2014 and 2015.

We designed and developed secure, mobile-first registration and payments infrastructure, including localization for 17 markets and 1M+ monthly active players.

Why does this website look like FigJam*?

  1. Something fun in a vast ocean of predictable 'same-same' templates.

  2. Most ideas start with a board. Scribbles, notes, links, post-its… a messy mindmap of discovery giving context to a solution. Careers can be like that, too.

  3. I have a thing for stickers. Work should be professional, but never boring.
